About Dr. Tonya Bolton

Owner of Emergency Fix, D.O, Pr.A.

I knew at a young age my purpose was to help others although I wasn’t quite sure what kind of help I was meant to give.  Being born in Winter Haven and attending Lake Region High School, I was given the amazing opportunities to volunteer in various sectors of the community.  My favorite times were spent at the local hospitals, working as a “candy-striper” in different clinics and shadowing several physicians in various specialties.  This was it!  I was built for a life in medicine.  I went on to the University of Florida where I spent my four years of undergraduate studies not only in the classrooms and labs but also as a volunteer EMT on weekends, surgical assistant and physical therapist aide.  My love for science and health only grew with each experience.  I was then accepted to Nova Southeastern University College of Medicine and was able to attend this prestigious private school through a scholarship program funded by the United States Navy.  The Navy allowed me exclusive field experiences such as Combat Casualty and Trauma courses and my love for emergency medicine flourished.

Emergency Fix

I spent the first year after graduation from medical school training in the first naval hospital in the United States, Naval Medical Center Portsmouth.  I then went on as staff physician at Naval Station Mayport in Jacksonville, FL, serving as the supervising physician for eighteen surface platforms with over three thousand embarked Sailors ensuring safe, individualized care delivery.  These efforts did not go unnoticed and I spent the last years of my active service as the General Medical Officer for the USS Iwo Jima, a Wasp-class amphibious assault ship, manned with over 2000 Sailors and Marines as we deployed to the middle east during which time we successfully completed Operative Yemen Response.  Upon returning home, I applied to and was accepted for Emergency Medicine residency at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.  My military experiences only partially prepared me for what was waiting for me in the downtown Atlanta emergency rooms.  I spent the next three years immersed in real world life and tragedy, leaving me with invaluable lessons of humanity.  I moved back to my hometown with goals of using my experiences to enrich the lives of the community.  I started working in several of the emergency departments in the area just as the pandemic hit.  Medicine as we all knew it changed.  The physicians no longer had all the answers.  The physicians lost and were more than humbled by the science we still do not completely understand.  The community questioned science but relied on it at the same time.  It was a struggle for everyone.  This struggle forced me to reflect internally once more.  How was I meant to help?

I found that a lot of my friends along with myself really gravitated towards self-care during the pandemic as our means to cope.  We had time to try a new skin care or hair care routine, Zoom meetings made us more aware of our appearance, we tried to deflect any potential boredom snacking with new exercise regimens.  My friends and family started asking me about injectable aesthetics which at first I thought ‘I don’t have time for that’, but then the eternal student in me pushed me to see what type of educational options were available.  I found an online course, then a weekend course, then shadow courses and yet again, I found myself in love with a new skill.  I am confident that God’s purpose for my life is to help others reach their full potential.  Whether it be by educating someone on diet modifications to control diabetes, teaching better sleep hygiene to lower hypertension, or by removing a few wrinkles that have settled in a little too well to enhance self-love, I want to help.  I have gained inestimable knowledge and proficiencies throughout my professional journey and I would love to utilize these competencies in helping you be the best version of you!  I opened the doors of Emergency Fix to you as an accessible and comfortable investment in your overall well being.
